About SVO

SVO (Stichting Vakopleiding Food) is a national vocational school who train professionals for the food sector. Their vocational education and training courses can be followed at branches throughout the Netherlands, and of course also digitally.

Question

Like many vocational schools, SVO also provided so-called photo sections to students: booklets with, for example, all the technical parts of a pig or cattle. Students can learn to recognize products in this way, but the method of training is changing at a rapid pace and is becoming more digital. What can MetaChef do for SVO in this regard?

Our solution

We talked to SVO and showed them some lifelike 3D models from the database. That was the deciding factor: SVO wanted this too. We made a 3D catalogue for them containing all the products that students need to know. A large part of these food products came from our own database; we tailor-made the products that were not yet in our database for SVO.

For many meat products, we worked together with master butcher Herman ter Weele. For example, he prepared all the technical parts of the pig, so that we could make a perfect 3D model.

The result: a brand-new top-quality 3D catalogue. Students can now look up and study products at any time of the day via multiple devices. The 'touchpoints' at each image provide additional information about the product.
